Aircraft Twirls Out of Control into Palm Groves at Frequented California Coast
A chopper soaring above a crowded coastal beach unexpectedly started spinning wildly, finally losing altitude and plunging into a cluster of palm trees as beachgoers observed.
Footage uploaded on the internet depict the aircraft starting to spin over Huntington Beach then falling near the border of the coast, where it gets stuck amidst palms and a staircase close to the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Information
Emergency responders stated five persons were taken to hospital involving a pair who were in the helicopter and were “rescued from the debris” after the incident on Saturday.
Three persons on the street were injured. Information on their injuries were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
Planned Function
The department mentioned the helicopter was linked to an annual “Cars and Copters” charity gathering scheduled for the following day.
