Diving into an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have found plenty of entertaining independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a character that is truly a piece of poop trying to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. Across 150 levels, you'll face tough enemies and unlock a shop to buy skins for your poop character.
Plan your jumps with caution, since one mistake forces beginning again. Bounce on bubbles to hurl yourself upward, navigate fragile ledges, and touch switches to open hidden paths. Gather currency for buying more difficult game content as gameplay gets crazy.
In terms of design, the experience shows off eye-catching environments and a killer music score. Its minimalist art of morphing geometric shapes could recall fans of old favorites like Earthbound.
While it's hard to recall similar titles where you control a coiled turd, gaming have long featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, this theme is present extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already earned impressive awards, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game scheduled to arrive on Steam on November 19.
