The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak from the Brady period as they beat division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph increases the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after falling to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to conclude the Jets' initial series
But the New England responded in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He aims to be excellent."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the win
