One teenage boy was found dead only a few days after being falsely blamed of taking the ashes of a dead baby during a break-in, an inquest has heard.

Tragic Finding

The young boy's parents found his body in his room at his Flintshire residence on November 19th, 2021.

False Allegations Begin

The investigation learned how his parent received a communication on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a individual inquiring if her son was her child. The communication added: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my flat."

In a testimony presented to the court, the mother said the individual had been in the media, asserting her baby's remains had been stolen in a burglary - a allegation which was untrue.

Law Enforcement Inquiry

An official inquiry from police later concluded the supposed break-in complainant had "provided false information" and "it now appears that said items was never stolen in the first place".

Media reports about the alleged taken ashes generated online responses, and although Kai was not named in the posts, his parent said people "knew it was him".

The "online posts were extremely upsetting", she stated.

Mental Wellbeing Effect

She added that Kai had been diagnosed with mild ADHD, and as part of that condition, other peoples' opinions really mattered to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was not true".

Kai was arrested at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a police station and later freed under investigation.

Police said they would be in touch, the hearing learned, but had failed to contacted the family by the moment of his death.

Withdrawal and Worry

His mother said Kai "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "certain periods could feel like much longer".

When she talked to him about the supposed burglary, she said her son told her he had entered the house because the resident who lived there had said he could use the bathroom anytime he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Online Bullying

In a combined testimony between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her son was being harassed digitally after the accusations.

The inquest heard that a 19-year-old encouraged Kai to end his life.

She had no worries on the evening before he died, describing how she had listened to him "laughing and teasing".

She described him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "family is completely devastated".

He had been "clearly concealing his concerns", she said, adding that he could not stand to have anyone "think bad of him".

Educational Reaction

The hearing heard from educational staff at Connah's Quay High School.

On November 8th, she "heard some boys talking that the student had been detained and that was the initial I heard".

"He told me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the conversation, the educator said she rang Kai's parents' telephone and provided a message saying she had spoken to the student about the allegations.

The proceedings heard his family said they never receive that message.

Formal Finding

Senior coroner informed the hearing he would wait for documents regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with suspects with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of future deaths report.

Providing a descriptive conclusion, he stated: "Around 8 November 2021, unsupported accusations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old individual.

"Probably falsehoods were subsequently embellished and amplified through the platform of social media.

"During November 11th, he was interviewed by the authorities and following his interview he was released whilst investigations proceeded."

The official determined: "Exists no evidence that the acts or failures of any agency led to or contributed to his passing and although it was the outcome of a personal act it is not possible to discern his purpose."
